wow that’s a lot of hens!!! A sea of red chickensMy New Favorite TV Commercial

first off got a chuckle over your kiddo and the bell hahaha! Thanks for the tip. I have seen a few of them pecking at it, or at the calcium disk and bell on the bottom. There are also a few playing with the mirror on occasion. One of them grabbed a bell that is dangling from it. When she couldn’t get it to pull loose and let go it scared the crap out of her when to started spinning and jingling.
Actually, this isn’t entirely true. The Black Vulture will eat live animals as well as carrion, and do attack newborn calves. So it is possible the farmers there have heard about vultures eating calves and lambs, and don’t realize it is only Black Vultures that do this.

The only reason I knew this is because there is a breeding pair that lays in an old culvert on our property, so I was curious and researched them.

Vultures: wow never knew that, we don’t have them in my area that I know of. I only see the turkey vultures- they nest next door.
I haven’t been worrying about them when they flap/fly/soar overhead but maybe I better be more leery of them

Those photos of the youngsters are amazing! Those small eggs and then those big babies! And I thought chickens growing up was amazing!
