Pony Sunday today… I walked my little “ponies” East today, because Jimmy was being a brat about the chicken feed so I just let Arduinna choose which way to go and set out at a jog. Of course she wanted to chase the feral herd that was on the driveway 🙄. It’s a little long but I was hoping you could hear the hovercraft in the background and got distracted by that (you can’t, the waterfall drowns it out). It’s not a normal vehicle out our way… and sounds very different than most boats, freighters, and planes that I hear more often. Tide was out and it was pretty choppy at the beach. Sorry for the wind noise.

Awesome day out with the "ponies" :) those are wonderful photos and video shots - love it!

C’mon, people! 20 pages since I logged in yesterday afternoon? Did anything happen or is there just a bunch of chatter?? 🤣
Hmmm I was just wondering the same thing then I realized I was likely being a chatter box - bad Kelly!

To make amends here are more of Henny Penny's chicks she raised a couple yrs ago ❤️
The eggs:

This week it is Eli wishing everyone a Happy Mugshot Monday

She told me I had to include the second picture even though it is a bad picture because she wants Aurora to see how magnificent her beard and muffs are becoming. She also told me to take a better picture next time. Just do better is what she said.

The first photo looks like she is saying 'Hey, mum, what 'ya doin'?"

The second one looks more like: "Really, servant girl, that is the best picture you can take? Hurump!"

That Red Tailed Hawk scream that is often passed off is becoming a regular call around here (along with the Red Shouldered Hawk calls… I’ve named them Harold and Henrietta. Sorry, Alex!)
After making that statement, I also got to hear it right at the end of our walk… we have a pair here too. All Chickens well and accounted for last night, but when I got home they were doing the BBB stalking us hide and seek game. It’s funny I know I have 66 Chickens and 7 ducks out there, but I walk by and you would think it was just 15-20 and 7! The yard goes empty and still. It’s unsettling. I’m not fast enough to get a decent pic of the hawks though.

I think in both she is saying:
'Are those sunflower seeds you are hiding under your jacket? GIMME NOW'

I hope it's not offensive to say that I think the boy on that photo has the same look as you do now, the eyes of someone with dreams.

I hope these turn out to resolve as best as possible 😔.

MONDAY MISTERY : Who stole my old marked eggs ?
I need some educated opinions. My three pullets lay in an old barn above our house and I leave an old egg in the nest marked so I can recognize it, otherwise they switch nest. They have two nests, each with an old egg. This morning, both eggs had vanished ! No trace of broken shell anywhere in the barn, no visible animal tracks. We leave a hole open for our cats in the night so anything that can get through it could have stolen the eggs. But do any of you have a clue on what animal would take them away and not eat them on spot ?
We don't have racoons or bobcats but other wise pretty much of anything that can be found in European rural land!
Anyway I wish it luck if it tried eating the three months old eggs🤢.

Gaston's face for a mug and tax. Doesn't he looks kind ?

Our Ravens fly off with them, and have been known to walk right into my coop and take them out of the nest boxes, so possibly a corvid? The only other thought would be snake, but I don’t think you have the same issues with egg eating snakes and the wrong time of year climate wise even if you do.
