Is there a reason she made you think that she had stopped laying? Was she not laying? I am wondering if Penelope has laid any this year….

Wow! To eat? Really?

I guess it goes to show rural Missouri has a really low cost of living. The most expensive I've even seen eggs was in a little local grocery and we paid about $5.50 for a dozen. The last I actually bought was in January, right before the girls started laying and they were about $4.50. Now, these are generic "Best Choice" type eggs...but still.

Virtually all the local farmers with eggs to sell are selling for $3.50 a dozen or less.

$7/dozen for me now selling to the store, they are at $8.50 retail. Farm fresh Free Range are going for $9/dozen in town… CAD$$$

I started babysitting when I was 12, saved all my money for my Rabbits and Cavies (guinea pigs) - I used to raise and show them

Wish I had chickens back then! Think how much knowledge I would have by now!


Math is tough - stick with it - you need it forever (so it seems to me!).

I will probably start babysitting when I am 14, if my parents will let me... (I love them, but they are so overprotective. They don't care what my older brother does!!)
Oh yeah, math is very tough. I hear it every day from my parents that I am going to be using math every day when I am an adult. I used to love math, but then my parents homeschooled me, and I came out with a mental block in it. It is hard for me to learn at the same rate as everyone else. Whenever my teacher calls on me ( love her), and I don't know the answer, I get so embarrassed... I think that my class mates know that there is something with me and math, because I excel at every other subject...

That's going to require veterinarian medicine college education.....more school....

In Canada you need better grades and longer schooling to be a Vet than an MD! Lol and we wonder why we have shortages?

I actually only have one B. Well, two. I forgot to do something for science, because the teacher never gave it to me... and of course math is a B because I uh, I may or may not have failed a quiz... Hey, it was a 6 question quiz, and I missed two! Not the worst but not the best!! Ha, nevermind. It is awful

The Leghorn fooled me. She’s still laying her beautiful white eggs this season. (Those I save for myself) mmmm good!
