Wait... did you steal Willow from me? She looks just like that!! I wonder if she is part EE and part Golden Laced Wyandotte? (GLW) Hmm. Mystery... for now, I want my pullet back! 😂 Oh! I think that Willow is going to lay her first egg any day now! She is growing, and is getting heavy!
Share a picture of Willow so we can compare.
I don’t believe there is any Wyandotte in mine. I am not good on breeds even with my book but in this case @bgmathteach knows the answer.

Snowy day here, the chickens were hiding/ scratching around in their coop when i checked on them. I am waiting a bit to head to work, supposed to start warming up around 10am. Currently at 33° perfect nasty slidey slush temp.

Ewww yucky snow!!! It was -25C this morning but sunny and bright!

.... and then they were gone hahaha! I bet they ran back to the coop ❤️

Oh I am going to have to pretend to have my head buried in the sand for a bit. The worst enabler, the one that lives with me grandma. Just informed me that she thought it was time I fill up that incubator. I could do it, I could fill every slot in that 42 egg turner with eggs less then 5 days old now that I'm averaging almost a dozen a day. Repeat after me everyone, DO NOT DO IT, DO NOT DO IT.
Awwwww Babies Babies Babies - we want babies 💕
Hey come on I live vicariously through you!

Who is that in that nest box?

Looks like Mr P wanted Dorothy to try out the nest he made! He is very interested in what is going on in there!

And now Sophia wants to join the 2 girls already in the other nest box...
I put the incorrect 3rd video up... silly me!

Mr P decides to check on Dorothy....

Sophia takes the lead and joins Rose and Misty in the nest box.

Then Dorothy decides she is done with the nest much to Mr P's dismay!

Meanwhile in the other nest box, Sophia was giving me a fit with that egg she was rolling around!

I missed when Misty jumped out, but they were all singing. Sophia finally did also jump out but I missed that...

But then she decided that she wanted back in that nest ❤️

I love Lulu's brow band! She is a pretty baby! I have a soft spot for greys!!
That brow band was her grandpa's browband off his bridle :)

I love greys also - but she is actually an Appaloosa (Pony of the Americas). You can see that she has pink skin around her eyes and muzzle which is an appaloosa trait. If you look at Sally she has the more common trait with Appaloosa's in that her skin was mottled pink and black.

Both girls also have 'varnish markings' which are the dark patches on their face, shoulders, stifles, and elbows.

This isn't a good photo of Sally for mottled skin, but you can see those varnish markings on her nose 💕❤️

Here is Truly who is a grey you you can see that she is all white now that she is older (greys get whiter as they get older). Truly was born chestnut in colour and started going grey as a yearling. Also Truly has black skin rather than pink or mottled skin (I love a nice dappled grey!).

Greys also don't have those varnish markings.

But you will see that Truly has small chestnut flecks on her body - those are called flea-bits - she is a Flea-bitten Grey. Those differ from a Leopard Appaloosa which have large round spots all over their body.

I had a leopard appy but I don't have any photos here on site (but I am sure you can google leopard appaloosa).

Side note. I have always downplayed it when Rosie says her legs are sore the day after riding when she has not been riding as much. I will never, ever tell her to quit complaining again. I woke up this morning feeling like I walked to the top of the hill and back.

Whining tax.
