Oh, no! Not Fat Bird!I'm afraid I'm going to add to the tales of woe. Fat Bird has a problem with one of her eyes.
It's doing that bubbly corner when something is in it or it's received an injury. It doesn't look good.
I think the vet is open on Monday and if so that's where she'll be going.
Two strange things. I had a look at her eye with a magnifying glass and saw what could only be some kind of mite on the lower eyelid. I got the mite, and naturally gave Fat Bird a full on check for any more. No other mites or even signs of mites present.
But, when checking her nostrils and her ears on the side of the bad eye, I found what I can oly describe as a tiny earwig type creature. Got that as well.
I've given her eye a wash with PH neutral water and put some eye drops in. Apart from the obvious eye problem she seems fine. Ate well at supper time and headed off to the coop seemingly untroubled. Of course I didn't let her walk up and gave her a carry.
She was roosting with the others when I looked in a while ago. I'll give her eye another wash in the morning.
One really annoying thing I've discovered is I had a pair of wooden round nose tweezers with were ideal for removing bits from ears, eyes and mouths. I can't find them anywhere.
Thanks! I do love them! They are great!
I need a facepalm reaction.Bed Time Last Night
So I was up and ready when Sydney took them to bed last night. Everything went swimmingly until the very end.
You can see at the end Ned/Nanette out in yard on the other side of the coop. Sadly this resulted in several more tries as Sydney came back down to get him/her and Lucky came along. In the end I would have to help Lucky up onto the porch as she could not get both of them into the coop at the same time after the first effort.
They are getting much better at it. I still need to watch to be certain though.
I hope the mite and ear wig are the causes of her eye bubbles. She's a dear old girl.I'm afraid I'm going to add to the tales of woe. Fat Bird has a problem with one of her eyes.

How awful for you.Roxy update: No metal. it’s an intestinal issue of some kind… She’s bloated and gassy and likely bleeding, since she’s very anemic and has a lot of inflammation cells. We could try to treat her with barium and antibiotic, but there’s no guarantee. And the could also be cancer, even though that didn’t show up on the x-ray. I’m not sure what to do. To try the barium and antibiotic and take her home or to just end it. I need to make a decision and get back to them.
I need a facepalm reaction.
Did anyone else think Lily enjoyed that?
