Baby update

Well the poorly one is still with us, she was out and eating (pecking at feed) from the crumble I crushed up when I went out at 5:30am, she didn’t want any sugar water to drink though.

She was active but very unsteady on her legs. I will keep a very close eye on her today.
Wee one is still here, I gave her more sugar water which she did drink, she has been out pecking at the feed, I have been breaking the crumbles into smaller pieces. She is still very unsteady on her legs, but I have seen her even picking through the bedding for heaven knows what - spilled feed..? And she drank some regular water.

As always I will keep an eye on her.

It's not as thick as the store bought but I'm guessing they put thickeners in theirs.
Yup, a lot of them do. I make my own Greek style yogurt, and drain a lot of whey out of it. It's thick enough to hold a spoon upright... even when you turn the jar upside down.

Lots of uses for the whey too. It's great for making mash for the chickens, and acid loving plants like blueberries love it.

We have chicks from her now. We have several different size roosters. So if my wife decides to breed Goldie we can. We have roosters of the following type. Sebrights, bantam game, bantam frizzle, bantam EE's, standard EE's, Cochin , Lavender Orpington, Silky and a variety of crosses, lol
oooo! Yeah from a hen like that I would want chicks.

Wen you bring home the ones this weekend, you might consider putting her in with the littler ones. They may not be much smaller, but it's possible it could make a difference (I know, lot of maybes in that). There are also fewer of them, so that could be enough right there.
Great idea! There is also a tiny Brahma I might put in there, she is very active and but very wee. I want to keep her thriving!
