Not really here... In Canada you never have for sure a real summer. There's always a chance of snow. One time in the middle of August it started hailing and I had to run around crazily in order to save my plants. (at the time they were still in pots and I had to bring them all under the porch).
I was working out near Edson one yr and I had just bought a new truck, as luck would have it I had the big blue beast in the covered parking at Edmonton airport during my week home rotation when there was a horrible hail storm that caused a lot of damage to vehicles! I was glad I was too lazy to walk from the regular parking ha! That covered parking saved the day!

I knew it, I knew it. Lock-up time and Perdita is not on the roost but in the tote flattened out like a pancake on nothing. I put her screaming fluffy butt back up on the roost.
Can’t fight hormones! Last year Dorothy spent 5 weeks like that, I would haul her butt off the nest twice a day to eat drink an poop. Finally one day she just quit.

She has yet to go broody this year, hope that she doesn’t see curly and fluffy and follow suit!!!

My 2 DC girls have done this. Once one goes broody, the other one decides to set within 24 hours, and they use adjacent nest boxes....Then I move them to my broody tractyor (has 2 nest boxes, roost, etc.) and they raise them together. They cooperate really well, it is a joy to see when they are brooding their chicks!

I suspect that if they are setting together without shenanigans, then they will be okay brooding together.
They are hatch mates and always go broody together!

Parmesan's foot is all better now. However, because of high wind today, the door opened and the chickens accidentally went outside! Naughty chickens! Don't they know that just because the window is opened doesn't mean they should escape?! You are going to mess up the grass we grew, Parmesan!

I know where your hiding spot is Grandma. You must love to hide behind the AC vent.
Very glad her foot is better 🥰🥰

We had a super smart chicken named Ginger. She was alpha hen. In August 2022 she decided to lead all the chickens to bully Inky, so I gave Ginger to my friend.

Here is a past post about her rehome:

Today my friend told me that Ginger is dying :-( :-( 🙁 😢 It sounds like sour crop. I feel like my Ginger would still be healthily living with us, constantly trying to fly over fence if she had been here with us. 🙁 I know my friend is not as attentive to her chickens. She does not notice the first sign of illness. I am so sorry Ginger.
Sorry to hear this, it’s always hard having pets 🥺 harder when they have to be rehomed.

I am sorry to hear about Ginger. But, think of this - if she was still with you, probably Inky wouldn't be. You did what was best for your flock overall. I know it was hard at the time for you to rehome her, and you loved her, so it is human nature to second guess yourself - but don't.

If your friend is close enough could you go over and check out Ginger, and maybe try feeding a bit of coconut oil and massaging her crop...showing your friend how to do it??? (hopefully it isn't too late...but a number of people have had success with this.)
