Daisy is laying!!! She laid her first egg yesterday. She just laid her 2nd one a few minutes ago and let the world know it. Had every chicken on the place tore up. The first one is small but the new one is already bigger then Henrietta's who lays my biggest eggs.

I had the worst kind of surprise when I got home last night. I found Sunny dead in the chicken run. He had been perfectly fine in the morning. It looks like he just fell over dead. Anna was sad, he was one of the classroom chicks. but she understands

that these things happen.

Ugh. I've had that happen too! I saw Pebbles in the nesting box & found her dead in the run 20 minutes later, after she'd laid [ no, Shad, I don't do necropsies! I've said I'm no scientist!] It is the most awful feeling.

Ugh. I've had that happen too! I saw Pebbles in the nesting box & found her dead in the run 20 minutes later, after she'd laid [ no, Shad, I don't do necropsies! I've said I'm no scientist!] It is the most awful feeling.

I didn't used to. I have for the last couple of unexplained deaths. I learn't something from one and not much from the other.
