Hmmmm, I think Glynda is telling you you need to get her a younger sister or two to lay blue eggs, too. It is too much stress for her to have to be your only blue egg layer, she is revolting! She knows if she stops laying blue eggs, you will just have to get more legbars.

(her real wish is so that she has some other smart, fast, fun-loving sisters to help her keep the squirrels at bay and to get into trouble with her - it is no fun getting arrested alone!! But, shhhhhh, don't tell her I let you know her plan. Remember the phone you accidently dropped in the run? Beakbook plotting, my friend...beakbook plotting!)
Why do I feel some plotting going on here. I think I need to change my computer password and lock up my troublemaking marshmallow mafia.

It’s unfortunate but having been down that road before I know your girls are very happy.

What did they dress out at? How old were they? What was their breed again?
Didn't weigh them. Packaged breasts together. Packaged thigh/drumsticks together (bone on). Packaged frames for making stock. Surprisingly they seemed to be about the same weight inspite the size disparity. I did notice a difference in feather texture. No idea where that comes from, but I I ever want to make a feather pillow, I now know to pay attention to that.

Kren was buff orp x EE father with suspect wyandotte mother. Horus was hamburg x leghorn. Both saw their 1st birthday and had grapes included in their last meal.

I asked my niece if I could op in to the school and was told they don’t allow visitors. Hmmm that’s just stupid. When I was a kid there where always visitors being shown around, gave us something different to think about.

Even at work having a visitor breaks up the monotony of the day. You end up working better.

As I was up last night (the usual leg arm thing) I realized that there was a huge upset with your gang, when Betty died 😢

Do you think this could have caused her distress ?
It has slowed egg laying down but this started a month before Betty was lost.

That is an interesting theory.
It seems more likely than anything else I have read. So far my reading suggested two possibilities. One was that their shells can get lighter and lighter in color and then reset when they molt. It feels a tad early in the year for that to be the case.
The second was various mineral deficiencies but that too seems very unlikely.

Edit: oh. Just read that it started before we lost Betty. I am stumped.

I wonder do chickens get ticks or do they pick them off during their preening?

This is the one thing I wondered about with Eli, there are many bacterial infection infections that can occur from ticks.
I'm certain they eat them if they were to ever get one.

They were beauties but it is just not safe to have big bruisers like them running around.

You have them an awesome life, they had no hardships - you are a wonderful chicken mum. It’s hard to do the right thing sometimes.

:hugs

Yes. I have had Lyme a couple of times and found a tick on me on Tuesday. I really hate those things. It is why I keep toying with the idea of some fully free ranging Guinea fowl.
