And Jaffar, he cocorico! IMG_0926.jpeg

Mine were grumpy and irritable when they stopped the broody bit, which is why I though shoving chicks under them would help. But with my co-broodies being old cranky pants with the chicks I am not likely to do that again!

Maybe @RebeccaBoyd can say if they get moly and grumpy after coming offf the nest without babies.

Edit: meant mopey not moly… 😆
If I can break up a broody they are a bit "off" for a little bit. If I can break them up right away they almost snap right out of it. If it takes awhile I will find them sitting in random places, still broody clucking and grouchy to other flock members for a few days.

Curiosity on both sides of the babies. That's good.
Everyone is outside now, Fluffy got confused with all the chicks and pecked poor Penne thinking it was one of the others, Penne looked so disgusted she went and pecked one of the other chicks.

I think that Penne and the Silkies want to meet them but the mamas are having none of that. But they are sitting about 2’ near each other.

Blanche got into trouble today along with Misty, I couldn’t find them and was panicking - I finally found them way at the end of the paddock. That’s were the lions and tigers live 😳

New chicks on the block

Have to say that integrating hand raised chicks is way simpler than a grumpy snarly broody fighting everyone.

I have not had any issues so far, not that I will leave them without supervision for the next week. But everyone is getting along!

And I even had one jump up in my lap for a siesta 😊 definite keeper if it’s a pullet ❤️

Happy Friday everyone. I am mentally preparing myself for the exhaustion that is to follow over the next few days. The memorial day horse show starts tomorrow. I think at some point Rosie is wanting to bath Russ today. If Russ hates one thing in life, it is a bath so I will have to help her. The show is supposed to start at 7 tomorrow night. I figure it will end not earlier then 4. Even after she is finished Rosie will want to be down there watching. We will come home and crash and repeat again Sunday. Monday I will be dead to the world but I would not have it any other way. Good times with friends in a family atmosphere, good food and many many beautiful and fast horses.
