Petunia has a very pretty sheen going on there!

As far as 'boy' I don't know - there isn't the slightest bit of coloring like Rico - and they are the same age, right? Also, though not the best angle, it doesn't look like there are any wattles showing yet, either

@BY Bob : What does Phyllis' comb look like under the lovely headdress of hers? Do hens get the slightly forked comb, too?

P.S. I LOVE that picture of Petunia. You should submit it for POW and for the next feather photo contest - very nice detail of the feathers - both texture and a bit of shimmer at the 'nape' of her neck! 🥰 I think she is just adorable.
I believe Phyllis is also forked but I'm not entirely sure. Let me look for an old photo with her head wet. It's been a while.

I've seen a few hawks around here, at least two or two sightings of the same one. One encounter was very scary-- it flew over the chicken run, then down the driveway, then over the woods.
Last year I had the kiddos out in the horse paddock, I was sitting on my lawn chair When a hawk flew ver me and swooped down at Buttercup, who crouched down - so the hawk vered away and flew off - all in about 3 seconds! They move fast, everyone was ok but it sure freaked me out!

Other chooks are just fine!
Lhicken was only one year old 😢 I think an egg broke inside her and you are right. It is *yay, I don't have to water the garden!!* raining. For a bit, for about half an hour, and I had to runnnn to lock up the meaties cause they were getting all wet. Soppy little meaties
I am not sure if that is average age for this sort of issue, and not sure if there is anything to reduce the risks of this 😟 I keep an eye on Marty she laid a few soft eggs, and she is a silkie not a production breed by any means.

Mr P is looking great! He is Polish you said? I will totally consider getting a polish he looks so cool! Just like my brat Taurus.
He is a really good Roo, stays away from people, and the hens like him. Have seen more than one cleaning his chin, and also his head feathers.

The only issue is his ability to se through his head mop.

I trim his feathers so he can see - when I first did it it almost cut his comb off, I didn’t know know he had such a funky comb - so if you ever get to me be very careful trimming the coiffe.

Rico will be I think 8 weeks tomorrow, he and Tippy and Martina are the same age.

Petunia is one of the school chicks, she is 5 weeks old, she had an almost velvet baby fuzz going on, but her feathers coming in have brown tips coming in, I’ll try to get a pic of that.

She is a sweetie pie, and will happily sit on my lap and snooze, I have decided to keep those school chicks until they start laying (or time to deal with the Roos). At that point I will decide who will be sold.

I shall post her pic 💕
I got back from my vacation today. I will tell you more about it tomorrow.
But, I have my first broody chicken! I came back and the first thing I did was check on everyone- everyone's alive.
Willow was the only one who didn't come running, and so I looked on the nest, and there she was.
I was thinking that she was, because the guy watching them didn't pick up eggs- I knew that because a friend came out to pick blueberries and checked on them.
I went to pet her and she puffed all her feathers out and started making broody noises. I reached out to pet her and she pecked me.
I put some food down near her and she ate a few bites before Bolt came and gobbled it all up.
I told myself that I wasn't gonna tell my dad, but I ended up telling him anyways. "Nope. Those eggs will be in the trash tomorrow. I will not have expensive chicks in my house." "B-" "No buts, that's final."
I tried talking him into it, but he was FIRM 😔💔
I feel so bad. I don't want chicks for myself, I want them for Willow.
I told him that if I let her hatch them, I will rehome them. "NOPE!"
I'm gonna try again tomorrow before it's too late.
Well, I also have Covid really bad, which is fun. My Canada experience consisted of staying in a hotel room for the two days I was there.
And I fell down the stairs on the cruise and pulled a muscle in my leg. That hurt bad for a few days.
Well, I get to go to the doctor tomorrow to see how bad this virus is- meaning what hundreds of (fluid out of lung-no idea what it's called-) something medicine thing... yeah...
Ack, good night.
awwww sorry that you’re ill that’s miserable. I think you are trying to explain an expectorant - which helps loosen phlegm to cough it up.

Sorry about the broody hen also, too bad the person looking after your chooks didn’t remove the eggs.

Anyways welcome back you were missed; let us know if you want any catching up 🥰

Ooh tiny house chickens, that calls for the insanely cute but impractical for me Seramas. I want those tiny chickens so bad I cannot stand it. Lately they are popping up for sale all around locally. I am resisting, I do not feel I could safely free range them. Serama's come in all kinds of colors and normal feathers, silkied feathers or frizzled.
And TOTALLY impractical for my extreme cold winters thankfully! And no way I am keeping chooks in my heated office all winter 🫣

But yep I would like to have also 💕

The moment Happy learns to crow she becomes a Cocknure. It will also be the moment my brother kills me.
Have a new egg client who has 2 adult conures and a couple young ones, and a cockatiel (apparently it has potty mouth 😁). We had a nice chat about her parrots 💕

That beard is going to be something grand. Keep it up little one.
