I only saw one fight between Cillin and Treacle today. Looking at them on the roost this evening there were no signs of new blood and none of the old scabs were broken.:fl
That's very good news! Way to go guys. :clap

Hi yall... I haven’t been here in a while because I bit the bullet and rehomed my bantams 😔 and I couldn’t bare to be here and talk chicken... had I realized what a devastating blow this was going to be I may have not done it... but as time has gone on I am coming to terms with it.. I had to keep reminding myself that I was ultimately doing them a favor.. in the long run. I must admit that the first few days I was torn apart with “abandonment issues”... and oh, how I miss seeing them in my flock 😢.... I even considered going back to get them but I knew that if I did and they became broody again then that would be even worse... I am broken hearted as I didn’t realize until now how much I loved them and that they were my favorites.

Oh I am so sorry WhoDat. From memory you thought they were going to a nice home so maybe you can take consolation from that. Can you go visit them to see them all happy in their new home? Would that help maybe? :hugs :hugs

I was surprised when brexit won the referendum and it seems like reason abandoned Westminster that day although I'm sure there are some very diligent people working hard to get it az right as possible in the circumstances.
I wasn't surprised. If Trump could win an American election, England could leave Europe. While it is unsettling just now, these things have a way of working themselves out. It is interesting to watch though I am very glad not to be caught up in it.

It was another unbearably hot day today and I made ice-cream for the chickens. It was surprisingly successful.
I put little scraps of tomato and cucumber (all kitchen scraps) and put them in a plastic pot and topped up with whey (left over from home made Kefir). Kefir whey doesn't have much if any lactose and is full of protein and it freezes with a consistency closer to ice-cream than straight ice.
The chickens had a great time chipping off bits of frozen whey to get to the frozen treats inside.
I like to think it cooled them down a bit in the heat of the day.
