This is what Noodle does in the evenings when I'm trying to catch up on BYC.

I feel your pain @RoyalChick !

Yup, I recognize that problem. I think cats believe they should always be the center of attention if they are in the mood to engage. All tech (phone, computer etc.) is a challenge to that. I have one that forces herself between my face and the phone if I am on the sofa making a phone call!
Noodle is a very cute looking cat (I have a thing for black and white cats - well and black cats too) and 'Noodle' - what a great name. :love

STRAW!

I tried using the straw I purchased in desperation to clean out the coop on Monday. It was awful. It was so long I could only use it for the nests. With a complete sense of defeat I went back online yesterday and saw the Chopped Straw which I wanted or sale at TSC. I called the store and they had 8 bales available. By the time I got there they had 2!

My success.

You can see the difference between the nest boxes and the rest of the coop.

I have happy hens today. 😁
Well done! I have never tried using straw for the Princesses. They get leaves and in the nest boxes they have pine shavings.
I do have some White Pines in the yard and their needles are so soft and lovely I sometimes use those - I think they call it 'pine straw' but it isn't anything to do with straw as we normally think of straw.
I just got some coffee grounds free from Starbucks and am going to try that out on the coop floor.

My girls love it. They will be in it all day digging the little seeds out of it. Good fun.

I had 2 roosters hatch from my boy, last year that was identical to this, and my the grew up beautiful!
This was my rooster "Peeps" RIP three years ago. Killed, while saving his hens from a predator.

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that the points are temperature related. As in if you put your cat in the fridge for a few minutes (don't do this kids!) they would come out overall darker until they warmed up.

Perhaps their circulation isn't as good as they get older which makes the extremities colder which makes the hair grow out darker.

I don't really believe the fridge thing though....🤔

I've never heard this before! However my ex-mother-in-law had a Siamese mix who loved to hide in the fridge, I can say she never came out darker! LOL
