Someone crowed.
Pooh is now braying like a donkey but it wasn’t that sound. Piglet has got the goose honking thing going on. But it wasn’t that either.
It wasn’t a full on adult rooster crow. More like practicing.
I can’t figure out who it could be and whether it is actually a little cockerel or just poor voice control.
It could have been Bernie who certainly has other roostwr-like behaviors. Or even Babs who may honestly be the noisiest chicken I have ever encountered.
Or Tassels.
But @RebeccaBoyd thought I would see gold or red by now if Tassels was a boy. Tassels is big, but no red or gold.
The Pentagonists are 12 weeks old.

Here is Tassels looking alert and on the left. Pooh is in the foreground and Calypso head-down on the right.

Oh boy. This will be fun to figure out.

So, what I can see says pullet.

Is there a way you can get a good tail shot of each? (profile is good - but need to see the 'saddle feathers' (ones that fall on either side of the primary tail feathers) and the tail feathers themselves - including tips.

My 5+ almost 6 week old chicks - 3 are definitely pullets, one is definitely a roo, and one is questionable. (Some hens will have 1 or 2 tail feathers that curve a bit at the tip - which is also how a young rooster's tail/flag feathers start out in their first baby molt (2nd set of feathers - before a true juvenile molt) I know others can tell by the hackle feathers, but this early, I find frequently there isn't enough difference to use those.

That said, are you sure it wasn't one of the adults attempting a crow? remember what Aurora's crow sounded like. You could tell it was a crow, but it wasn't like an adult roo crow. (I have yet to have a hen crow....but I think it is less likely when you have roosters than when you don't.)
In case anyone has forgotten. Hen crowing.

Thanks so much yall, I'm always overthinking this kind of thing! Nice, I'm all set, and barely have to fuss with it. Whew!

I have some scrap 1x's in the barn I could use!
FWIW, we took the back off so we could put a door in the coop to collect eggs from the outside. We also put a dividing wall down the middle.

Just since you asked, I got her tonight since they're getting settled in and compared her with Meanie. Feels normal to my, admittedly inexperienced, hands.
I would compare it to the others, that is what I did with Tuff.

EDIT:
Sorry noted you already did this - silly me!

Yea from the table of my memory I'll wipe away all trivial fond records.

You are Not dumb!!! Your busy and it's easy to forget things. Sorry you had to put your barn clothes back on. Sleep well.
I opted for a clean pair of breeches instead of the smelly barn wear.

Then I trotted to the barn. Note to self: make sure not to trip over the poultry netting while trotting…. 😁 (it was dark and raining haha)

Poor chooks got all disturbed and Tuff was not happy to see me. But I got her amoxicillin and Tylenol into her, managed to get chicken poop on the clean breeches 😆 and headed back to the house, and climbed over the poultry netting getting my foot tangled in it. It’s like a Laurel and Hardy skit here at times!!

No it’s not that I am busy, I got distracted with chasing the Tweens and the school chicks to bed. I have to count them, and count the grups (grown ups), and mama and her 4 chicks… then there is Tuff - awwww I forgot her!

Everyone is tucked into bed and snuggled in together.
