I have read you saying this just too many times. It was my first thought when the house burned. I'm not the right person to tell you, so I hope you won't take it badly, and maybe others who know you better will - you need to make moving out of this neighborhood your priority.

Tax : little Théo, far offspring of Durin and Thorin, once a king now a fallen forlorn rooster in hiding.

A fallen king. How sad for him. :(

Still mighty in his own mind!
And still stunning.

I also think @featherhead007 should move but of course not my business and only he can know what is the right thing for him and his feathered friends.

Pony Sunday
For Pony Sunday let me introduce Miss Baby Bunny.
Miss Baby Bunny showed up and introduced herself to Bernie and Babs.
She made herself at home until Babs chased her off.
Then she went off to introduce herself to the Pentagonists. Sylvie wasn’t very welcoming and chased her all around the yard until they agreed to co-exist peacefully.

So...having fought the heat once, it's about to happen again for a couple days. Not triple digits, but high 90's on hatch day!

How hot is too hot for my newborns? They should hatch the 13th.

Also, proof positive my chooks aren't hunters...went to clean their waterer and there was a little inch-long frog, swimming round and round like he was on the lazy river at a water park. So wish I got a picture. I let the brave little fella go.

Just checked the chickens and tossed them some plantain greens from my yard. They weren't interested. I think I've spoiled them with radish leaves.

Meanie and Sheba have both laid. As I predicted, NOT in the clean, comfortable, and untouched nest boxes. Do you see them?

How about now?

Yep, in the poopy bedding under the roosts.

I don't know what my hens have against laying over floor level. The new coop is not going to have a box at the floor. I'll just pick them up where they lay.

Honestly, they can see into the nest boxes from the roosts and an easily hop up into them. I'm going to use a ramp and ledge in front of the next ones I build...but I still expect to pick them up off the floor.

@Ponypoor, I really enjoy your Shakespeare quotes. I haven't read enough of him!

I did recently read, Shakespeare: The World as Stage, by Bill Bryson. For such a well known person, maybe the most read English author, we know VERY little about him. And yet the book was absolutely fascinating! Which wasn't surprising, since Bryson is a wonderful writer.

I have two level nest boxes but mine prefer the ones on the floor. Or the wheelbarrow 😁

Put a wheelbarrow with hay in there, guarantee they lay on that!!
