What ATC center do you normally talk to? My dad is an Air Traffic Controller. He used to fly, but he has a back disease that eventually made it so that he can't turn his head to be able to fly the plane.
His father, and grandfather, etc, were all pilots. My grandfather fought in Vietnam I think, and my great grandfather also fought in wars. Fighter pilots of course.
I have pilot in my blood, but I'm not super interested. Sure, I think that planes are awesome, but they just aren't my thing.
But anyways, now my dad is an air traffic controller, and he talks to hundreds of planes a day.
Answer: I get my Squawk codes from many different controllers, usually from my tail numbers. It’s kinda funny too, because when I do get assigned a Squawk code, I think of my chickens.
It’s possible that me and your dad have crossed channels once or twice ( maybe)

I thought squawk codes were chicken Morse code! :D

Just once yesterday and then I tried again today, but she is not acting well, in fact my guess now is her heart is failing. She did seem to be eating a bit more when foraging today this afternoon, but I mean a tiny bit. She took a little greens - baby's breath - from me, but she alternated between looking fine and trotting with Popcorn a few times to looking tired, and when she stopped to rest she half-closed her eyes. I know she dust-bathed earlier today, because when I checked her at noon she was wonderfully full of dirt. Between 4:30 and 7pm out and about, she just was closing her eyes every time the group stopped to hang and preen. Twice she hung out by me and napped briefly. So when I tried the feeding at 7pm or so what happened there was not good, and really made me think for sure her heart is failing, and the stress of the procedure exacerbated it. Or she's just so skinny she's too weak?

I stopped after about 10-15 ml because she really gave a good wriggle, and with that effort her eyes half-closed, so I immediately got the tube out and it seemed to me her legs failed, she was passing out. I let her down keeping her head and front part supported a little to not push anything in her crop up, she lay sort of on her side, then in 2-3 seconds she was awake and quickly got her feet under her, stayed that way a couple seconds, then stood up. I'm calling the vets tomorrow to see what they think. I hate to travel with her but maybe they can come here on Friday, if she lasts that long.

She pooped a tiny watery poop waiting while I got the tube food ready, so I collected it and got it dissolved in a test tube and got a slide on it before starting the tube feeding. I didn't see anything remarkable.
I am quite far behind - so will wait to catch u and hope to hear better news. In the meantime - so many :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs for you and Butters.

Mama will stay put for 24-48 hours, and she will break up pellets (or any other food) for the babies.
It should NOT be layer feed, though, as the calcium is way too high. In a pinch for a day, maybe, but they really need either a starter or grower feed (starter is crumbles, and usually a higher protein level, so best, but grower will work, as will an 'all flock'. ..Layer, in all honesty, is not good for them. Again, in a pinch for a day or two, but NO long term feeding of layer to chicks.)

I had to laugh because Fluffy certainly does look like she is waiting to finish you off. But ouch! That must leave quite a headache.
My injury for the day is that I sliced my finger open on something - I think it must have been a can of cat food. Lots of blood. Hope the cats don't develop a taste for it!
I'm sorry to laugh, as paper-type cuts can be quite painful. BUT...the thought of cats getting a taste for blood, and licking their chops each time you walk by - I just couldn't get that image out of my head - way too funny.:lau

Hope you and @Ponypoor are more careful next time. :hugs Ouch!
