I haven't seen a June Bug in years I fear them all gone from this area. I also noted that there are less fireflies also this year.

The Japanese Beetles are not as plentiful as last year but definitely abundant.

Well luckily although June bugs are rather endangered here in Italy as well, I do see quite a lot of them! I saw so many last week they were getting in the chicken water and the chickens where having a snack

Is Agathae OK?
Recently, Agathae went broody. She wants to hatch, but she is sitting on dirt. I've noticed that since the beginnings of being broody she has looked really ratty. She was trying to nap on my desk.

Have you tried New Country Organics? That is what I feed the chooks.

I will have to look that one up - I won’t get it here but might give me some ideas on what to ask for at my local mill.

Does anyone on FBA have thoughts on the age of chicken feed? I just posted this but would love all your views too.

With a dry feed like chicken feed I would say that as long as it’s kept in a cool dry place it will be fine for several months.

I used to feed the horses a sweet feed (oats, barley, corn mixed with molasses), I would have so much issues in the summer with bags that were moldy. They high moisture and sugar was a great medium for molds. I now feed a pelleted feed which is much more stable n high heat and humidity of summer.

Poultry feed should be fine as long as kept in a tightly closed bin in a dark cool area.

I think she is old enough to drink. Remember, she just turned 7. In chicken years, that is at least 55, so I'm pretty sure she is okay on that front.

I bet she will have trouble popping the cork on her own, though - so she will have to bribe Alex to pour her a drink by promising to share the wine with him. She may even have to share the pizza, since she did peck in HIS credit card number when ordering!
