Volunteer Call for Synopsis Writers

Currently, a dedicated team consisting of myself, Ponypoor, Royal Chick, and ManueB takes turns compiling synopses of all the latest chicken-related news. This thread has attracted a wide range of followers, both old and new, who deeply care about the stories and photos we share here.

However, we realized that it's not always possible for all of us to keep up with the thread's updates 24/7, 365 days a year. To address this, we came up with the idea of a weekly synopsis to help everyone stay informed about the news and stories shared here.

This endeavor is a labor of love that we all thoroughly enjoy, and we would love to have more volunteers join our rotation. We understand that life can get busy, so we are completely flexible with scheduling. Whether you're new to the thread or a seasoned member, we welcome you to join our synopsis crew. Simply send a PM to any of us, and we will add you to the list for a turn. You can choose to replace any available date that suits your schedule or opt for future weeks.

Current schedule of volunteers:
Royalchick: sept 9-16
Ponypoor: sept 16-23
Knoturavggrl sept 23-30
ManueB: oct 1-7

We sincerely appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm for this project. Thank you all so much!

Here they are! The gray ones are the Maran babies. The black and the buff are the grandchildren of Viajito, our Silkie roo. Interested to see two things from the Silkie crosses. Will their feathers be more like silkie feathers or will they be hard feathered? Also Interested in final coloration. @RebeccaBoyd might be able to tell me what to expect from the silkie crosses. They are adorable and I am in love. First gen silkie crosses with my flock I have a general idea on coloring now. 2nd gen crosses all bets are out of the window as far as coloring goes. The one constant I have had with my crosses is that they all end up hard feathered. About half of the 2nd gen crosses show signs of having tufts of fluff on the tops of their heads and some will be bearded. My bit of advise, raise them all up to adulthood and we can all marvel over their colors and looks.

Six weeks and all is well as far as we know. The Littles are today enclosed in the puppy cage in an entirely new area for their daytime excursion, within the electric fencing and aviary netting, near where I am working on the run extension.
They are checking it out carefully. It's a jungle out there!

The Bigs are able to go out of the netting but have to stay within the electric fencing for now if they go out. They haven't really gone far. Let's just say Popcorn thought the greens right here tasted really good!
