I just spotted that we both cited the same source - there are many, many other legit academic studies of this. Peat bogs are one of the few carbon traps we have. Harvesting peat moss not only releases the carbon, it also destroys the trap which takes eons to reestablish. This is like cutting down the Amazon rain forest to grow more cows for burgers. Just not a good thing.
It should matter more to you than to me as I will be long gone before the worst of the impacts come to pass. You will probably still be around.
