Hmmmm 🤔 maybe someone should invent one that is rechargeable?
The cold saps batteries....that's why it's a bad idea to leave your cell phone or portable power pack in a cold (or hot car). It even saps the battery in electric cars. If they can figure out how to prevent that from happening, would be a fantastic idea.

I also saw a show about paranormal investigators.
I worked with a young lady who had majored in Art in the local art college. She said a common conversation among art students was, "What did your parents think about you wanting to major in art?"

Most of the students said their folks were "less than thrilled." This young lady said her parents were ecstatic! Why? Because it was a "real" major! Before she wanted to major in art, she wanted to be a paranormal investigator. :lau

That’s funny 😆

I think you may be right - she is looking a bit unusually rumpled.
So much for 'breed' being a strong determinant in egg laying behavior.
Bernie - takes 11 months to lay an egg, then does so at the rate of a couple of eggs a week and then stops in October.
Sylvie - same breed - starts laying at 5 months, laid every day for a month and then went broody.
:idunno
I agree with @bgmathteach after looking again - check her neck, doesn’t it look like there’re feathers missing under her hackles?

Bernie and Sylvia are from the same or different breed “strains” or “lines”? It is true I think that within breeds, some lines are bred for certain features either singly or in combination, like SOP looks, egg production, meat, broodiness, personality, etc. and sometimes one feature brings another.

Within a line, maybe if a breeder brought in new blood to add a feature, there might be greater variance in the offspring until the line stabilized?
