You may need to figure how to block off access to under the deck.
I can do that.
We are 7 years into the chicken experience and until this summer only Mal had ever gone under it. I thought if it was cooler they could hang out there but if they are going to lay, you are right.

A difficult evening for us all

Bedtime at the Palace this evening was very hard for me to watch.
Unfortunately Maggie was on the open end tonight and that is never good for the Young Ladies. The other two ignore them, but Maggie definitely isn't interested in sharing a bed with them.

Dotty tries to make it to the top of the window as usual. Ouch!

A while later she makes it up, but doesn't seem to learn from experience.

Third time is a charm and she is up and roosted leaving Minnie to brave the onslaught.

And because I feel disloyal to Maggie, let me show you her fluffy butt from earlier in the day

I wonder why they lay in various locations?! Mine always lay in the nest boxes...

River was desperately crossing her legs and shouting about it whilst Charlie twiddled her thumbs on the nest, having already laid her egg. I showed River the other nesting box but she wasn’t having it. I tempted Charlie off the nest with a massive cockroach and River was straight in!

Gorgeous fluffy butt! All my girls got a butt bath yesterday; hubby held them whilst I squirted their rear ends with warm water, rubbed in some puppy and kitten shampoo and rinsed it all out. That way I removed the risk of them being fly-blown, without having to fully immerse them.

They are not going to fit in that window much longer. My gosh they have grown! They are super cute right now.

Maggie was not mean to them at all. That was mild. Her fluffy butt is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

They do have their favorites. 😆 Good thing you intervened.

Where is that Plant Growing?!

it rained here for 4 straight days last week. Pair that up with all the "fertilizer" generously applied to my deck by the ladies and seeds supplied when I toss scratch out to them and you get plants growing in the cracks of your raised deck!

Well they can't dig it up through the deck so they will have a continuous supply of snackage!

Alice's feathers look like that all the time.

I wonder if she has some Frizzle genes? 🤔

Egg Hunt Update

No one has even considered laying an egg. 4 hours of watching so far. They are waiting me out. :barnie

They are on to you Bob. You need lessons in covert ops. :gig
