My cousins had one that was a she, and laid eggs in the sand in her enclosure, I loved feeding her mealworms and crickets - it was hilarious watching her tongue flick out and just quick as anything gobble her goody down 😊 made me glad I wasn’t a cricket!

Ok off topic tax

Ya we won’t go there about Fluffy’s bare butt !

Speaking oh bare, Larry is looking gorgeous; she has bloomed since she has come here to Bay De Verde Acres, her feathers have all grown back and I am hoping that the calcium I am shoving down her gob is helping with the soft egg situation. We shall see when I get home tonight if any of the nests have broken eggs.

I give you Larry
I am sooooo tempted to hatch a couple chicks from her and Mr P- I wonder what colour I would get??!

Color chicks: likely sex-linked. Cockerels barred, pullets not. Probably all blue. Partial crests and funky combs a high possibility.

Wow what a week and it is only Thursday. Hospice is amazing and those people are angels. We have had a visit every single day during the "setting up" phase. Today the nurse aid came out early this morning to assist with bathing grandma. Not one single complaint, not one. Bathing has been one of the biggest battles as she does not want to do it, always trying to put it off until the next day. I did not get my chicken time as she was here at 8:30 am and there was still a huge frost on the ground. I loved the nurse aid though, Bubba was pulling his usual winter stunt of staying on the roost until the frost was gone. She spotted him through the window and gushed over him. She is a chicken person and she called Bubba one of the prettiest roo's she has saw. She snapped a picture of him with my permission. She is taking to show her husband and to increase her demands she needs chickens. She said they had cows and they had pigs, she would have chickens if it killed her. She also spotted Grandma's quilt tops and the two of them talked forever about quilts and quilting. 2 hours after she left the Chaplin came for a visit. After he talked to me and mom for about 20 minutes he went in and sat with grandma for a good 30 minutes. We also now have the new compression mattress. That in itself is a godsend. She loves it and says she has never been so comfortable in the hospital bed. Not once is almost 24 hours has she hollered out crying something was hurting and we had to turn her. The shocking thing, she agreed and is happy, happy mind you that the nurse aids will be out 3 times a week starting next week :th . I really thought today would be a 1 and done event. A big part of this I do believe is she is having new people to talk to that are not me and mom. Whatever it is, she is happy. She has been thankful for what they have done this week and is cooperating.
:wee :celebrate :ya:hugs:wee

Currently -18F, wind chill feels like -35F. Either way it feels REALLY COLD! Even Sherlock doesn't want to be out much (inspite of being a bundle of energy).

I can say that those blue heated pet water bowls work. The water is still LIQUID.

Coop is staying closed until after daylight. I called off work. Headcount 25 again....I think....They're snuggled in so close together its hard to count...even some of the "don't come near me" are sandwiched together.
