Eggy number two!
Laid...outside in their little cave...hubby said "how do we make them lay in the nest?" Like...we put the fake eggs in there we can just hope she starts to use it.

Really a beautiful color too...
Beautiful egg. I love the ones with speckles. Bernie sometimes laid speckled eggs before she decided she was taking a vacation from egg laying.

Beautiful eggs, my kind of color preference. To help encourage whoever it is to lay in the nest box place a golf ball, fake egg or even a store egg marked with a x. Honestly though, I would not worry about it just yet. Young layer, first in your flock to lay a egg. She has not seen other hens lay in the nest box and is figuring it out on her own. She more then likely will start laying in the box within a week.

Wow what a week and it is only Thursday. Hospice is amazing and those people are angels. We have had a visit every single day during the "setting up" phase. Today the nurse aid came out early this morning to assist with bathing grandma. Not one single complaint, not one. Bathing has been one of the biggest battles as she does not want to do it, always trying to put it off until the next day. I did not get my chicken time as she was here at 8:30 am and there was still a huge frost on the ground. I loved the nurse aid though, Bubba was pulling his usual winter stunt of staying on the roost until the frost was gone. She spotted him through the window and gushed over him. She is a chicken person and she called Bubba one of the prettiest roo's she has saw. She snapped a picture of him with my permission. She is taking to show her husband and to increase her demands she needs chickens. She said they had cows and they had pigs, she would have chickens if it killed her. She also spotted Grandma's quilt tops and the two of them talked forever about quilts and quilting. 2 hours after she left the Chaplin came for a visit. After he talked to me and mom for about 20 minutes he went in and sat with grandma for a good 30 minutes. We also now have the new compression mattress. That in itself is a godsend. She loves it and says she has never been so comfortable in the hospital bed. Not once is almost 24 hours has she hollered out crying something was hurting and we had to turn her. The shocking thing, she agreed and is happy, happy mind you that the nurse aids will be out 3 times a week starting next week :th . I really thought today would be a 1 and done event. A big part of this I do believe is she is having new people to talk to that are not me and mom. Whatever it is, she is happy. She has been thankful for what they have done this week and is cooperating.
Just wonderful news! I'm so happy for all of you. :love

It’s a lovely colour, I love the speckles!

Well my pullets are laying eggs everywhere! I do find them in the nestboxes sometimes, it’s the older ladies laying in there. The youngsters must think it’s eggciting to lay their eggs waaaaay on top of the straw pile under the sheet I have to protect the straw bales from poop. Last light I found 8 eggs there! I was amazed they didn’t roll off the bale - it’s just a shallow depression made in the bale where they are laying! Brats! Oh and I know Raven is laying up there - I caught her up there a couple times. I am wondering if Larry might be laying up there.

I took Sir Jaffar back outside to let the girls out, but with the ground muddy and cold, he would have none of that. He looked at me as if to say “Hooman are you nutz? I’m not staying out here, until it’s warmer! Take me back inside squire before I behead you!”
I believe that he is right. It’s uncomfortably cold outside and I have nowhere I need to go, so I’m staying warm on my couch with him beside me. Plenty of movies to watch.
