With the way things are going I'm thinking it wise to have hens that lay. My son did offer to help me with it. We'll see.

My silkies are my best layers when not broody , I have 4 of Hoovers coloured egg layer package pullets who are laying lovely eggs, one blue, two olive and one brown egg layer.

Yes, I agree with you after seeing these - Gumbo is a rooster. He is beautiful!!

I don't mind. I used to be myself! I'll own it.

Yaaaaa…. This time last year I had 12 - 12 and a Roo…. 12 lovely lawn ornaments, and a handsome wee fella.

Now I have many many more….. ok I’ll own up - I have 32 - 32 including 2 Roos.

Now why and how did this happen you may ask? Well seems chickens breed like rabbits!

And what am I planning ? More chickens ! Because my niece (who actually is to blame for some of those chicks from last year), once again wishes to hatch eggs for her school where she teaches.

But, I have a plan - this time she will hatch silkie eggs, I am borrowing my friends silkie Roo to breed to my silkies. I may keep a couple pullets but will sell the rest. That’s my plan.

Thank you. I think that I’m going to try to rehome him one last time. If that doesn’t work, then it’s Freezer Camp I think.
