Oh dear - well glad you got her from the nest box, I can only imagine how hard it is the keep them warm in -40s. It really only gets to -30s here.Hope so too... Sir cuckoo's stuff has turned black already, and some of the hens are losing tips (Arabella stayed out in the nest box in -40, the coldest night, and that's when she chose to stay there. If I hadn't come along and plucked her out of the nest box, she'd probably be dead), so the worry's sort of over now. I also forgot to include that I had an outbreak of external parasites (mites) and only Big Buff has them. He has a lot of butt fluff so I'm guessing that's why.
You know I had lice with my gang this past Fall, I used that horse fly spray and treated them - worked like a charm. Now I spray the nestboxes and roosting ledges every couple weeks just in case they return.
