Hope so too... Sir cuckoo's stuff has turned black already, and some of the hens are losing tips (Arabella stayed out in the nest box in -40, the coldest night, and that's when she chose to stay there. If I hadn't come along and plucked her out of the nest box, she'd probably be dead), so the worry's sort of over now. I also forgot to include that I had an outbreak of external parasites (mites) and only Big Buff has them. He has a lot of butt fluff so I'm guessing that's why.
Oh dear - well glad you got her from the nest box, I can only imagine how hard it is the keep them warm in -40s. It really only gets to -30s here.

You know I had lice with my gang this past Fall, I used that horse fly spray and treated them - worked like a charm. Now I spray the nestboxes and roosting ledges every couple weeks just in case they return.

Miller is also located in Westlock.Apparently Miller sells blue andalusian and other breeds. Rochester sells bielefelders (spelling!!) and Speckled sussex, and also white silkie. I'm looking at some of those. The Peavey Marts in Ontario seem to be provided by a different hatchery, maybe from the US or local. Maybe the hatcheries in Ontario are bigger?
Peavey here in Alliston, gets some from Freys Hatchery, and also up from Hoovers in the US. I think Hoovers is in Iowa. I am surprised they wouldn’t ship to AB. Calgary or Edmonton would be a direct shipment I would say.

Freys has nothing I am interested in, Hoovers has a better selection of breeds.

I just checked out Millers but they don’t ship to Ontario. Oh well, just as well I can get most of their breeds easily here except those Andalusian ones.

Well, I just went to the website, and it says it's only for Ontario. Oh well, I guess I'll have to be contented with looking around Alberta :D
Isn’t that the way with everything.

You might try Freys, if your looking for dual purpose birds - they are a dealer with the SASSO line of birds bred by Hendrix Genetics for meat/eggs. And they have Speckled Suspects and Orps also. And blue and dark egg layers (marans hybrid), they do shipping cross Canada as far as I know.

Just checking cameras, and I realized - I can leave them running! No more being careful how much data I use! I can yell at Ruth for picking at Mr P and the silkies, I can yell at the horses for breaking the fence, I can sing to them 😊

Marty and Penelope are wondering wth is that racket? Oh it’s the Hooman singing - where is she, oh ya it’s the disembodied voice from above!
