How the heck did he do this?

It had to happen this afternoon, it was still seeping blood. Sprayed vetrocyn on it and wrapped it up.

He was a angel for everything and stood perfectly still. Bubba is a big boy, with 1 almost 3 inch spur left. If he wanted to put up a fight and hurt me, he could have. I also weighed him. He is getting some baby aspirin so I needed a exact weight. He feels like he is heavier then this. Still a big boy though.

The first picture, what am I looking at?

Just like tax.
Here's Josey the Leghorn. She has gotten more friendly with my lap over time. I still have to catch her and that's hard, but she will sit on my lap now. Truly intelligent.

Just got to entice her to do it - put some scratch grains on your lap and see if she won't try.
That's NOT what I did with my Sheenfeather though, she just started doing it.:D
I guess you just can also spend lots of time with her, and she will get even more used to you.

The exposed and bleeding spur bud I guess you would call it. I have saw video's online of people saying that to trim a roosters spurs you twist them off. I cringe as it leaves the bud exposed and bleeding. If I did not know better I would swear this is what happened to Bubba.

If I was to do that while they were free ranging In Albis would beat her to it.

Raining here really hard right now. I asked Jaffar if he wanted to go out to his lady friends. That’s a DEFINITE NO! He’s staying with me inside the house for tonight. He’s already pancaked his self on the couch. I wonder if he wants a pillow and a blanket?
:barnie
The rain ISN'T STOPPING! :he
(Well, I really don't mind it)
Yes, you should give Jaffar a pillow and blanket.

Poor roo - 4 years ago when Ijak lost his spur, I bathed it in Epsom salts to see if that would work....

I am several days behind again. I will get caught up tonight but I need to show you all this and make a announcement.
Owly is indeed laying. I have not caught her in the act, but I have caught her singing the egg song not too far away from a freshly laid warm egg a couple times this week.

Queen Aurora has always been her role model. She idolizes her and strives to do everything in her little chicken body to live up to the Great Queens standards. Grow a mighty fine beard. Check.

Always be underfoot so if anything is handed out she gets to be first to sample, even if it means taking a peck from her Queen Raven. Check

She is among the youngest of the flock so you would think she would be near the bottom of the pecking order. You would be wrong. She is bold, she is fearless and she also shadows Raven. I have caught her putting some of the other hens in their place. Well, the place she thinks they belong. She sticks up for Poppet, if a hen tries to be mean to her while she is out with me Owly gives them a thumping. I do see this little girl one day striving to be Queen herself. If she keeps learning, I do not think that will be a bad thing. Long live Raven though so many years into the future please.
Most importantly, the Great Queen Aurora decrees that the most special eggs are pink. She vows that much to her humans annoyance that Blue eggs are overrated, pink is what one must strive for.
Owly's response...

CHECK!!

Oh gosh that’s just too funny 🥰😊

Congratulations Owly! Pink is a special colour held for only the most special of hens 💕

Ow! Poor fella! Thats bone, the spur is made of the horn like nail covering bone apparently 😩 glad he didn’t break the bone off! You did an awesome job wrapping his leg! Looks great and I bet it feels good for him.

Half a baby aspirin should be good. If you have liquid Tylenol it’s 10mg/kg of weight. I have 80mg/ml here so I give Red 0.25ml which is 20mg. I figure she is close enough to 2 kg (4lb)

Henny has torn both her feet outside toe nails off - I noticed when I trimmed her nails this weekend.
