Bubba kept his bandage on overnight. I have watched him today and both he and the hens are also leaving it alone thankfully. He was walking around gingerly so he had to have pain meds. I thought I would be smart and sneak half the pill in a leftover macaroni noodle. Yeah, no, I had to end up shoving it down his throat. He is worse than the dogs and cats combined to medicate.
He’s probably okay now without needing medication. Just fyi

Installed the new grit and oyster feeders. Spilled everywhere filling it too.

Always a good day when it's nice enough to go give the girls scratchies!

You are right, he probably would be fine without pain meds. He was hurting though. I watched him closely this morning. Very reluctant to come off the roost. It is warm today so he is not using cold weather as a excuse to be lazy. Since it warmed up he has been one of the first off. His gait was also off, slightly stilted and he just was not as active as he should normally be. Bubba was giving every indication he was in pain so I went out to grab him to medicate. He stood perfectly still to let me pick him up. He normally side steps a step or two when I go to get him. I have the ability to ease his pain so I will do it as needed.

You know your rooster best. Do what you need to.
