Spurred by a Cactus Spine
I wonder... The roo that I had once, Ijak and Buffy's son, (Dom X BO) had very dark brown barring with white and black barring on his neck and golden wings... very interesting. All this talk about colors got be curious about something so I hopped over to a genetics calculator to see what came of it.
Barred markings are fairly dominate over everything. Purebred roos have 2 copies of the barring and will give it to all their offspring.
White comes in 2 types: recessive and dominate. Dom white covers everything.
Which comes out on top? Barring or Dom white?
According to the calculator, you end up with white birds with white barring. The Dom white covers the barring.
Using a barred hen and a Dom white roo gets the same look (white birds), but only the roo offspring carry the barring.
Speculation: maybe get some faint/light barred leaking through?
