I've done that. You turn it on, it roars once, and then quiets down to "normal fan noise speed" which is quite loud. No, just saying, if it is making loud fan noises maybe you could clean the fan to make it quieter.
I have been giving Petunia a half a tablet of calcium every other night for the past week, tomorrow I will give her 1/4 of a tablet, every other night for a couple weeks.@CCsGarden if you ever feel like a commission or trade, my kid would LOVE a chicken lady doll.
Hubby thinks Kasumi just isn't getting at the calcium I put out. She's pretty low on the pecking order. So I gave her a calcium pill wrapped in cheese. Maybe once a week I should do that for her just to help.

She was still in her trance here, she popped out of it and was a little trembly so I put her with the others to socialize.
Hubby says that we can add our little brooder cage to the run if we need to for a few more square feet of space.
I totally agree! I do this with my chooks on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.I love how supportive your hubby is of your chickens!
If I recall correctly, do you have a larger property? I know it would be tough to find the time to supervise this with a toddler around, but do you think you would brave letting them out to free range in your yard for an hour or so? If you wanted to limit how far they roamed, a roll of chicken wire might even keep them corralled (until you discover you have a flyer of course lol). My girls only get out a couple of times a week for 40 minutes and I feel it changes their behavior- they’re much calmer when they get out on a regular basis.
You’re pretty great at giving them treats, so I don’t doubt they would come running to you when you called them back to the coopAlthough if that fails, they’ll just go home on their own at sunset.

Whiskey mid morning mash. She’s on a roll! One egg every day this week.

Perry, who is trying hard to be an egg layer! So far just three teeny tiny soft shelled ones have fallen out helter skelter around the run.

Albert update:

Albert ate a bit today! Unfortunately a flat empty crop when I got there at 9am, but she tucked into the mash and ended up with a proper walnut sized crop. Hurrah good food! Which is lucky because it turns out she hates walnuts.Haha so much for that experiment.
Also the fecal results came back: negative on all counts.![]()

My worry is my parent's dog mainly. I think I could manage something with letting them know ahead of time though. I do have the option of some 6 foot high chain link fence, I just have to mount it to a frame mostly. We're thinking of fencing the backyard anyways since our dog takes off into the forest behind it when he goes out.I love how supportive your hubby is of your chickens!
