Those three! Yeah i am a sucker for sure . The wee chick is absolutely lost all by itself she/he just sits under the plate. When I pick her up she seems strong and lively but without friends apparently she has decided to just stay put.

So, my plan to sell the chicks is nixed due to my fertilization rate and now assuming the other chick hatches I will have a total of 5 new chickens I didn’t need.

Bringing my total to 18 chickens. I planned to add NO new chickens this year!!!

Lesson here is even when you plan you still end up being hit with chicken math.

Can't you sell started pullets too? (Sell a grouping ideally, so they aren't lonely.)

Let me commend you for your caring, awareness and sensitivity to the little one's behavior and what it meant. On a selfish note, I was worried about it and was going to write something. Chickens are so group-oriented, the little one's survival instincts are telling it to follow a momma hen or hatch-mates around, and when there's nobody it isn't safe, so it stays put. It would not thrive like that. You could be it's momma, but you'd have to a 24/7 momma.

It’s boring her sitting in a motel room with my rooster and my laptop, waiting for legal confirmation on a warrant to enter a residence.
Jaffar is doing fine. Later today I will go to the airport and run a safety check on Marie

I suspect they are here to stay. I could sell chicks np but once I raise them .. I’ll get attached. They are absolutely darling black Ameraucanas though so I am not unhappy. Who cant use some more blue eggs??? .

I said that I have my emotional support system and alarm clock me. She said no way can she allow a barnyard animal residence here on property. I said “well you allow bovine’s employment here, so why not my very quiet and tame rooster ? She didn’t get it.
I had the city get my room.
