French Marans of all varieties all have feathered legs. American strains of those varieties have clean legs. Not sure why :confused:

I personally like feathered legs, and it might give them an advantage in cold weather.
In California, all the chooks shave their legs, so I wouldn’t know!:cool:

Marans have feathered legs here except for the Cuckoo variety has clean legs. Why? Who knows?

Well I am about to go out and settle everyone for the night, can’t wait for the rain to stop again, I need to go out now.
I begin to see how bantams could be 10X the trouble of a regular chicken!
