French Marans of all varieties all have feathered legs. American strains of those varieties have clean legs. Not sure why

I personally like feathered legs, and it might give them an advantage in cold weather.

Are you sure that's a "she"? That's a fairly large display of tail feathers.

I belive it is either a hen or a YOUNG Tom (like a late summer hatch last year boy)

It has no beard, and the tail is actually not that large

Marans have feathered legs here except for the Cuckoo variety has clean legs. Why? Who knows?
