Is his TAIL popping an orange wash?
Nope. What you see is dried on mud. The heavy rain over the weekend soaked everything. I need to clean out the coop. I can probably do that tomorrow I hope. Was not expecting the first thunderstorm that came out of nowhere. The sawdust was uncovered. Did not realize it until it was already raining for a hour so the whole pile is thoroughly soaked. We have almost got it dried out.

Thirsty Thursday pictures.

Someone cracked the top of my waterer making it useless. No one is owning up to it however.

It doesn’t crow, it doesn’t act like a roo in any way. Body features say roo, temperament says not a roo. I’m puzzled 🤔
Rudy is dominate. This one is .... delayed .... submissive .... less hormonal ..... content to let Rudy deal with duties. He will eventually. At the moment, it's a good thing for you. 2 roos, working together rather than against each other.

Ok

From what I have read the dose there is incorrect and you need to double check the strength you are using.

There is 5mg/ml and 10mg/ml strength for ivermectin.

Yours is 5mg/ml. The dose is 0.04ml/kg (200 micrograms/kilo is standard for all livestock)

Do you know the amt in your drops?

I reworked the dosage myself. Here's the math.

5,000 micrograms / 1 ml = 50 micrograms / 0.01 ml

50 micrograms / 0.01 ml x 4 = 200 micrograms / 0.04 ml

You need a dose of 200 micrograms / kg to treat so you need 0.04 ml per kg

A standard eye dropper delivers 0.05 ml so it would be close to a drop per kg

It is important to be accurate when delivering any medicine. There are small syringes that can be used to measure doses this small.

Example syringe

When delivering any medicine you should weigh your chickens. Eyeballing she is about 3 lbs is a terrible method and a way to under or over dose a chicken. Feathers hide a lot and chickens can have significant weight fluctuations when I'll.

This scale, available at Amazon, works very well for weighing chickens and has a kg setting so no conversions are needed.

Obtaining supplies like these take time and they do not go bad. It is my suggestion that everyone have these on hand for the day you actually need them.

@Sally PB Also, I just remembered that you started keeping bees. Just in case your hives are within bee fly's range to your coop : Ivermectin and bees don't mix well. While it certainly wouldn't cause issues with just one chicken, I would think twice about using it systematically on the flock.
Recently we had a case here where a professional bee keeper lost so many hives he had to quit and he obtained a financial compensation from the AG chamber because it was recognised Ivomec for the sheep was responsible for his losses.
This is a sure reason not to use this drug. What a tragedy! We need to support bees however we can.

I'm throwing this out there. Little Aster is going to make @BY Bob wait for that first egg as will all of my silkie pullets however many there are. I predict the week of February 9th through the 15th will be a exciting time for both of us when our combined girls lay that first egg. To me Aster is a orp just not the color he wanted, her egg will be a pale tan.
Ok. Who is keeping track for the pool?
