I have informed the butterbirds that if they start laying eggs before winter then I will keep all three. One of them is getting red enough she might!

Anyone super hyped for the Detroit Lions again this year? The game last night had me on the edge of my seat... Especially those last 5-10 mimutes! Heart racing, stomach clenching, sweating... 🤣

I'm not really into football but the Lions got me interested last year and now I find myself really excited when they play! What a turnaround from the last few decades!

Anyways... Some tax. Monday mugs! Well, kind of. They're busy eating up some oatmeal so it was hard to get pictures of their faces

Not sure if I already posted some of these, I was too lazy to get off the lawn chair yesterday, Flopsy was keeping me company.

Then I tried to chase Butterscotch back in, I dared her to jump onto Reenie 😳

Mrs LC is getting ready to lay eggs, she has been squatting for me, and of course the boys are after her now.

Laverne is getting new feathers in and hates me for picking her up - sorry kiddo!

Red surprised me yesterday by singing the egg song, she spent quite a bit of time in a nestbox, threw straw on her back and acted like she was going to lay an egg. She didn’t, but she sang her egg song in her weak thready voice, I could have cried, I have never heard her sing before, lately she has been vocalizing, she still loves her grub and heaven help the chook that gets in her way of her food 😊

Dad doesn't want a rooster because he doesn't sleep well at all (an hour or 2 of sleep a night on average) and doesn't want to be woken up at the buttcrack of dawn every morning. I have insomnia too, though not as severe, so I understand that. He knows about roo collars but would never use them, to us it's cruelty.

Soooo how do I convince him to change his mind and get a roo? 🤔

^Only half serious, I'd never actually advocate trying to force someone to get an animal that they don't want. I just hope I can show him enough pros to outweigh the cons, eventually!

Is there anyway you could house your roo into a dark space at night, insulted so as to keep the noise out a little more?

I saw a clip, where a lady did this for a noisy roo and it was peaceful from there on in.
