My mum has discovered Alexa…. The world is her oyster regarding music, she is listening to the ‘50s at the moment.

We had fun thanking Alexa, and she would reply ‘her pleasure’.

Here are my chickies deciding to follow my Uncle back to the house hahahaha!

Love that picture!

Leg colours are different, too. Yellow for Wellsummers, White for Leghorns

:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

Unusual for chickens....but ducks do this fairly often...Quack, quack, quack, sauntering by...hmmmm...look, there is an egg - wasn't there a. min. ago!
Yes, birds are funny & endearing. We love all domestic birds in this family ~ they are so entertaining & great as pets who lay eggs for us. I love farm livestock but birds lay breakfast for us w/o us having to process the bird as food. They lay food for us while being our pets too ❣️

However, all my Leghorns (Buff Leghorns & White Leghorns) had yellow legs. In the 1940's & '50's we had Leghorns on my folks' & uncle's chicken farm & all Leghorns had yellow legs & yellowy skin when processed.

Did you have a Leghorn mix maybe w/ white legs to think that Leghorns had white legs?

I only had 1 which I believe was an Eschequer leghorn - in an assortment - and it turned out to be a roo - and I found a great home for him as I couldn't keep another roo at the time. Long story short - he had white legs, and eschequer leghorn seemed the only possibility given the hatchery's offerings and his motled black and white colouring 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ I should have looked it up before posting - shame on me - but that is the ONLY leghorn I have had (assuming he was a leghorn)

Less than a dozen followed him? They're no fools ~ the possibility of a warm house w/ the off chance they'll get treats too 😁

Love that picture!

Those were the only ones who would brave the snow hahaha.

Thanks, I tried to get my Uncle in it but he had gone around behind the shrubs 😊

She's so cute, I wanna pinch her cheeks except I know it's just a fingerfull of feathers :love
She’s a real sweetie too. Most of the chooks are very friendly, some to more varying degrees than the others.

It very helpful when I need to handle them, I found with all animals that the more you handle then the less stressed they become about it. And when they are ill or injured handling them adds lesa stress to them.

Especially with the horses, they are big and dangerous, having them quiet and easy to handle make a big difference.
