2 lemon pound cakes with lemon drizzle and Lemon icing done. A 3rd smaller one is already half gone and they are delicious. We have a gallon bag of zest in the freezer. A gallon of fresh lemonade is in the fridge. Within the next 20 minutes a cheesecake is going in the oven and we will get started on the lemon curd.

I am bopping around when I have time, and also searching for information about breeders and hatcheries, and saw this again. I am thinking about a few more Buckeyes this year, and since Hazel is the only one of four Buckeyes from My Pet Chicken hatched in 2020 still alive, I was thinking I would not use MPC again, that the genetics were fairly bad for longevity. Also, the coloring on Butters and Popcorn was quite a bit lighter than I've seen SOP pictures, though that's much less important than their personalities, which were outstanding.

But what you're saying here is that the Buckeyes MPC gets and what gets shipped out from year to year might be from entirely different breeders or hatcheries, so you can't really tell? It's not a TSC = always Hoovers (or whoever it is they use) situation?

I’d like to add that until a couple yrs ago I never saw chicks offered for sale in feed stores.

Feed stores would take orders for chicks and bring them in, but would never have inventory of chicks in-store for sale. That is a new concept here, but it’s been well received. Their chick inventory sells fast.

Last night I fell on my derrière in the Summer House while getting everyone in bed in the Hen House.

Nothing hurt, I was carrying two chooks at the time (Curly and Henny), Curly started flapped and threw me off balance, I didn’t want to drop her so down I went cradling her. She stood on my chest looking at me - likely sizing up an eyeball to peck - but then hopped off me and marched back and hopped up onto the roosting ledge.

Henny was a good girl and stayed with me, I put her in her nestbox she sleeps in, over at the Hen House.

Recovering slowly. On an antibiotic, steroid, and nasal spray.
Throat is still swollen and swallowing is hard, but I don't have that "infection" gross headache today
