Not a 100% guarantee as it is genetically possible for a marmalade cat to be female, but the vast majority are male. The bigger challenge: Castor and the marmalade growl and spat at each other. Sherlock jumped at it when seen through the window. The cats have to make peace before anything else can happen. Sherlock gets in trouble when he jumps at Castor. Same thing with this one. I also haven't been able to figure out gender. The tail never goes any higher.
That's useful info. I know NOTHING about cat genetics. Not a 100% guarantee as it is genetically possible for a marmalade cat to be female, but the vast majority are male.
Calico cats are all female.
The gene for ginger fur is on the X-chromosome. Males have only one and if it has the marmalade gene then they are that color all over. Females need two copies to be marmalade all over as opposed to black and marmalade (calico or tortoiseshell).
White is a whole different genetic story.

I didn’t know that! I had two sisters Ginger and Snap (yes original I know) who where orange tabbies! Had no idea they were so special. Not a 100% guarantee as it is genetically possible for a marmalade cat to be female, but the vast majority are male.

I feel your pain! The snow did not miss us this time. Most times when they predict snow storms with accumulation they always tend to shift directions and we miss it or it only hits the higher elevations of my county.
It started around 10 am this morning. Heavy wet snow....ick.
These were taken about 4:30pm.

I am lucky so far, it did not hang onto the electrical lines. Our power did flicker 3 times this evening about 5ish. That was about the time it changed over from snow to freezing rain which it is still doing.
Twice today I went out and shoveled a path from the coop to the horses. The 2nd time was when I headed out to make sure everyone got into the coop. All but 7 of my 25 chickens roost in the coop. Of the 18 that sleep in the coop I had to carry 9 of them. Poppet and Turkey stayed inside the coop all day again happily avoiding the white stuff. George and the silkies were the only ones who walked on my shoveled path. Of the 9 I had to pack, Mrs. E is the only one who had never saw snow before so she got a pass for refusing to walk in the white lava. The rest of my older girls, they had no excuse for the ruckus they threw and the refusal to walk on their path to the coop which they clearly wanted in. No, they threw a fit in Russ's stall and I had to catch and carry every single one to the coop entrance. I have not used some of the names I called the trouble makers since the last time Momma Hen was broody.
Sure hope the freezing rain doesn’t cause any downed lines. Be safe! The snow did not miss us this time. Most times when they predict snow storms with accumulation they always tend to shift directions and we miss it or it only hits the higher elevations of my county.
