We have a jacuzzi we have never used. It was here when we bought this place 12 years ago. We looked at it and it looks brand new, it it’s in a small pool house and that didn’t appeal to us. Talked often about moving it. Never did.
Wow! Is it sellable condition? Those tubs aren't cheap.

@rural mouse
We've always loved birds too 💕 My Mom loved geese, my sis loved ducks & geese & canaries, I loved chickens, parrots, cockatiels, & budgies.

So when I retired I was delighted DH chose chickens for our pets.

They are all looking healthy and happy! I have yet to see them sleep, it's an active little bunch! I'm very happy that the extras are pullets, I think things will be less complicated that way. I would have been okay with an extra roo though. But Jerry has 11 girls all to himself, which should be good for everyone! It was so great getting them all in good shape. One case of pasty butt, but nothing serious, she was cleaned up pretty fast.
That is such good news!

I had a runt w/ pasty butt.

It was 76° today when I got home from work!
Before anyone gets jealous, rain and 50's return Wednesday.
I start work tomorrow at the theatre for an almost two week run, so will likely get behind quick.

Wow! 76F ~ that's pretty warm for your neck of the woods! Usually our hot days don't start till late April but it was 90F for us today & will be again for another day or more. Came too early this year.

I am sorry your weather has turned extreme. It’s hard on both humans and animals these extremes in temps.

Question to everyone:

How do you keep your chooks cool in the heat of summer?

And it looks like they are helping you till the garden beds. :love
Yes except I wasn't doing any work, just watching out!
Totally different type of rooster training is needed if the hen wants to act like a rooster.
I see, and that makes sense. Except I have no ideas what else to do. She has been calmer the last two days.
I may put some in, now that I don’t have a herd of horses to tear them off the fence. Also Bobalink, they are threatened here. I may encourage them also with keeping the grass longer in the paddocks.
Predator guards are helpful - an extra block of wood at the entrance hole, to lengthen the reach - if you put them on posts.

Bobolinks thriving in a pasture or fields would depend on your mowing schedule, holding off mowing until the little ones have fledged and can escape. In upstate NY, we wait until the end of August. I think at least mid-July is recommended.
More Buckeyes! I love the look of them! :wee :wee
Given the stress of Diane in January I was considering Bielefelders, who are supposed to be super-mellow. But I want at least a core group of Buckeyes!
