I’ve made two boots, the first fell off after a short time, the second I did better but she may have pulled the tape off or worked on it, she is as all chickens usually are, very industrious. When I checked after two hours it was still on but then a couple of hours later, just a lone piece of tape was left, stuck to the top of her foot which she didn’t bother about!

Too funny! Smart bird.

Wrap her is a towel to keep those wings contained - they hurt when they wack you with them.

I may have to do that to have her in a good position; so far for the shoes she's been a darling, just standing peacefully at the sink. She pecks at the aloe plant there and hangs out. Lets me lift her foot to position the shoe under it and even tape it. When she's on my lap she lets me extend either leg out behind her to look at, sometimes extended in front a little, or below her. So I'll have to experiment. I don't want her getting overheated in a towel if possible (she would be inside the house for this).

I knew the Cream Legbar, I used to have one. I miss her dearly… still no idea why she passed. I definitely plan to get some again one day <3

My next idea is from @Ponypoor, to wrap the toe. It is more risky, to be sure to not snug it too much. I have plenty of vetwrap to play with. I could try vetwrap with the shoe, I got the feeling it was the tape on her feet she didn’t like.

No chicken likes their foot wrapped ~ not my bumblefoot hens, torn toe hen, or me in a brace when I broke my arm but it has to be done & of course as comfortable as it allows to heal. Bless you for your care

I taped the last end of the foot/toe vetwrap (bumblefoot) to the hen's leg using white 1st aid tape, or blue painter's tape, scotch tape in a pinch. Had to snip off the leg tapes when it came time to change dressings but at least the hen couldn't pull off the stretchy vetwrap that I secured to the hen's upper leg w/ white tape. You get a feel after a couple times how much tape it takes to secure it well.

I’m sure I’m wrong about this
