Is it a standard sized door? You might want to look at new doors. Most of my coop doors were salvaged from a house that was being demolished but I ended up one short and a new one from Home Depot cost less than the lumber needed to make it. I removed two panels and replaced with h/ware cloth. Then you could attack your ‘shutter’.
I also salvaged shutters for my salvaged windows and replaced their panels with h/w cloth so I can have the windows wide open in the summer.

I will be checking on that also, as I don't know what options there are. Door jam is 29.5 x 72, and would be SNUG.

I have a Dominique, yes.

I know your beauty is a Dom... I wasn;t quite sure of ikslo's BR whose straight comb seemed a bit tall as a BR. The way crossbreeds are being done nowadays I wanted to be sure that ikslo's was a BR. BRs & Doms share a breeding history [The American Dominiqiue: a Treatise for the Fancier by Mark A. Fields 1997] The Doms go back to Pilgrim days while the BRs around the early 1900's broke off from the Doms to crossbreed a larger bird.

Nowadays we can't depend on hatchery Doms to be much different from hatchery BRs other than their different combs/feather patterns ~ both breeds generally have great temperaments probably going back to the original Dom ancestry. There are very few private breeders left to keep the Dom's original integrity... goes for any breed tampered with to produce more eggs, breed out their natural broodiness, & breed bigger birds for meat ~ usually promoted by the hatcheries .

Mark Fields assisted Cackle Hatchery in 1982 to breed true Dominique bantams which Cackle claims they kept his breeding line pure but I never got an opportunity to get them once we started w/ Silkies. I'm too old now to get any more birds so hope there will be future customers to continue Mark's line. Temperament alone is enough to favor having Dominiques & BR's inherited that reputation too.

So confused…straight comb, gray-ish not yellow legs, supposed to be a brown layer from Cackle. I received four, although some are more black and less gold. At first I thought Black Laced Red Wyandotte Pullets, but then I was like, no. Comb and leg color are wrong. Maybe Gold Laced Orpingtons? I could post in the what breed is this but figured I’d just ask you all first. I can post additional pics if it helps.

My business is done, and because I’m still here, I’m going to have an early dinner at pier 39 (best porterhouse steaks I have ever had) and the spiny lobster is so yumm! I did well with the property sale too. Yippee
