They are covered but I think there are sometimes gaps that I didn't think a mouse or rat could get through. What if you covered it with wire mesh or metal screen...if you haven't already tried that. It will allow the light in and keep the rats out!
Put feed on the peanut butter. The feed will stick and maybe that will confuse them.Peanut butter. They sniff, look at the camera and shrug "you don't fool me" and proceed to eat spilled chicken food off the floor. Sigh.
If I have successfully sealed up the cracks then the rodents I am seeing on the cameras are all trapped inside the Chicken Palace so I need to get rid of them. Of course it is possible that I missed a crack in which case there will be more and more - but I will continue my filming of the outside so I can figure where they get in if they still are.

Where is the video of that?! I love it. Little buggers!First night trapping (because first night I have patched all known cracks). I will see what the morning brings.
in good news though my electric fence works and has shocked a raccoon twice this week.
I don’t thinkit is powerful enough to stop a bear, but a big raccoon was definitely keen to get away from the zap. Very satisfying!
One more...just to make sure I have truly made amends...Madeleine...my Sapphire Olive Egger!

A mouse can get through a very tiny hole...maybe you might want to try a piece of metal window screen...They are covered but I think there are sometimes gaps that I didn't think a mouse or rat could get through.
