Lovely photo of Ivy. Thanks for adding it.

That inherent distrust of government has been handed down and exists today with great numbers of Americans. It affects elections and cannot be dismissed or discounted.

Your explanation cleared up so many puzzles for me. It seems like the distrust has implemented a very expensive multi-layered system of systems of government. Which might even fan the flames of distrust even further 🤔

If that fear could be vanished, how would you wish your nation to remodel?

I have spent none of my time trying to figure out something better. I have nothing to offer you.

Lullaby and Goodnight

Lullaby and goodnight, with Aurora beside
While Hattie and Phyllis sleep down below
The other four are up high, Lilly's friends in a row
Tuck your heads now and rest, may thy slumber be blessed

So glad you had a peaceful roost tonight.
I have had a bit of a troubled evening.
Maggie fell off the roost just as one of the snap traps snapped (don't worry I have taken steps to make sure no chicken can reach the traps). It was almost as if the explosive sound of the trap snapping made her jump and she fell off. Is that possible?
Anyway, she landed on nice soft leaves and appears to have reasonable night vision as she was in the process of going back up the ladder when I came in (to deal with the trap).
I picked her up and slotted her back into her favorite spot and she is there now fast asleep.
The trap was empty and video cams on the other traps shows the mice happily going out of their way to avoid them. They seem to understand they are traps.
Sigh. Rodents 1: RC 0

That's a tough break. What are you baiting them with?

Peanut butter. They sniff, look at the camera and shrug "you don't fool me" and proceed to eat spilled chicken food off the floor. Sigh.
If I have successfully sealed up the cracks then the rodents I am seeing on the cameras are all trapped inside the Chicken Palace so I need to get rid of them. Of course it is possible that I missed a crack in which case there will be more and more - but I will continue my filming of the outside so I can figure where they get in if they still are.

Try adding some scratch mixed in the peanut butter?

First night trapping (because first night I have patched all known cracks). I will see what the morning brings.
in good news though my electric fence works and has shocked a raccoon twice this week.
I don’t thinkit is powerful enough to stop a bear, but a big raccoon was definitely keen to get away from the zap. Very satisfying!
