I was told $45 was too much at the swap meet so I honestly don't know what to charge anymore!

Here something like that would be at least $100 or even more at a craft sale.

Maybe a swap meet is different than one of those? More like a flea market here?

You should make an apron to hold chicks or small chicks while moving them around - keep your arms free to gather things but keep the chook contained.

Curious... how they got up there?

We have ramps and a 2x4 half way up. Most of them jump on top of the nesting boxes and then go up the 2nd ramp. Or from the nesting boxes to the 2x4 and fly to the middle branch and make their way to their desired spot. It’s like a big jungle gym.

The problem with those speculations is the mottled look. It is recessive. A bird MUST have 2 copies for it to show (unless it bleeds through in later life). In order for them to be a hybrid of ONLY 2 breeds, BOTH parents must be mottled. Silkied feathers are also recessive, so again BOTH parents must have silkied feathers for them to show.

Unless Meyers is using 2 hybrid parents, the bantam mottled cochin and the mottled houdan are the only pairing I'm seeing that check ALL the traits: 5 toes (houdan), feathered feet (cochin,) beard (houdan), crest (houdan), silkie size or a bit larger to leghorn size (bantam cochin shrinking the size of the houdan (6lbs ish), not going to have silkied feathers (cochin and houdan aren't silkied).

Does that mean I pegged the breeding mix? No. Is it a high possibility? Yes. Are they beautiful? You bet!

I never heard of them - but pretty. And this little one is a hoot. She is determined to get out of the tent and investigate the bathroom. She does a sort of running long jump whenever I open the flap!
