hi everyone

i am home and finally out of the anesthesia fog. My entire arm feels dead due to a nerve block. Sadly that is starting to wear off in the last 2 hours. I am following the anesthesiologists strict instructions on pain control. i took my first dose at 6. I am to continue taking them every 6 hours until Saturday. Then i take them as needed. He warned me to not delay in taking them even if i was not hurting. if i let the pain set in i will be in a world of trouble. he said if i can keep ahead of it untill saturday then it will be smooth sailing. they do make me a little loopy, but i am sleeping most of the time.

i probably will not be on tomorrow. this typing one handed is for the birds.

So glad it went well! My husband has had both of his shoulders done, and mom had one done. Definitely stay ahead of the pain!!!!

I have bricks arranged around the feeder and waterer, with a second level. The Littles seem to be able to reach the watering cups and the feeder with the second layer of bricks to stand on, and the feeders-waterers don’t get filthy.

When I put chicks into the coop/run (segregated in their own part at the beginning), I have a hanging waterer that I use. I put stacked up bricks around it so that they can reach water. As they get bigger, I take out a layer of bricks, until they're gone. Clean waterer, clean water.

Tassels really is kicking up a storm. I am finding clumps of straw on window sills.
Off out to freshen up water again!

Here are the parts I couldn’t remember.


It was you I wanted to ask what your coop scoop look like, and where did you get it?


Don’t have any rafter chickens because I don’t have any rafters. But they sure have found plenty of other high places to roost that they should not. These pics are my first batch of chicks when they got big enough to turn loose in the coop.

Ours definitely nibble on us. But there has also been some loud peeping and quacking when we pick them up.
So they are just curious when they nibble? We were never sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing.

Oh gosh! What monkeys! I have had mine roost on crazy locations like that too.

Morning update. Nerve block is completely gone and trust me I miss it. My entire arm, including my hand is swollen, my hand is twice the size of my left currently. I was told this would be normal. My blood sugar levels, we shall not talk about them. Stupid stubborn highs. I knew to expect this, and it will probably last for a couple days. I was told to keep it between 200 to 300 from the doctor who told me the sheer trauma of the surgery would cause my body to react and my sugar level to raise for a few days. I am used to a happy 140 to 150 range and it is taking everything in my power right now to keep it below 300. Cue a sick headache and nausea on top of everything else. Well the nausea could also be a symptom of the Percocet that was prescribed for pain control. Trust me when I say I do not handle pain meds very well at all. At least with these things are not moving on the walls and I do not feel like a total zombie, just a little loopy. A plus though, this morning I got movement back in my fingers. As long as my keyboard is in my lap I can type somewhat normally. I am passing time before my next dose of medicine and my next nap in a hour by going back and reading everything I have missed. I went back 500 pages and landed around the first of June. I have really missed a lot let me tell you.

Oh dear, sounds miserable, but it is only for a few days (72hrs it peaks and then subsides), then the real work will start.

We put thin laminate board up between the conduit after that, and a cage divider in front of the thermostat control. Lol

That reminds me, I need to take a wire brush and clean the cages again for more airflow.

Silly Jaffarra hopped up on top of the high velocity fan and all I could hear was her nails being clipped by the blades. Totally freaked me out (yep more shrieking) - Jaffarra didn’t even flinch, I guess it was just the nail tips being clipped.

I ran screaming to save her, she looked at me like I was demented, hopped down and calmly walked over and had a drink of water.

They are all used to my screams and shrieks of panic.
