Actually, when I said "ancestors" I was thinking pre-domestication :p ;).

I'm just jealous that we can't have them in the house here.....although I suppose we could rip the carpets up.... I don't know what the hubby would think though:lol:
Since when has the opinion of ones marital partner mattered when it comes to the really important things like keeping chickens.

When we first moved to the island our closest neighbours were the farm & the chickens went in & out of the house as they pleased.
Lots like that in these mountains. The house doors are rarely shut during the day. It just isn't practical if you keep livestock to take off your outside shoes and clothes everytime you enter the house so you make the ground floor easy to clean. Lots of the old farm houses here have dirt floors at ground level.

There are advantages. It isn't a way of keeping chickens I am interested in but in different circumstances I might consider it.
I'm not a fan of lots of male hormones running rampant. I had 3 teenage males @ one point...:thUnder different circumstances I might consider a rooster. One.

Wasthematterwivya, you lived to tell the tale.:lau
In the interest of a balanced perspective I had two daughters and their hormone tribulations wasn't all that clever.:p

Oh, I did the girls too! :lau They were a breeze by comparison. But getting a phone call from the lad @ sea to tell me he was scurfing behind his trawler in Great White country ...:th:eek::smack

Bob, my girls like to sit along the edge of the verandah in summer, facing into the wind & letting it ruffle their feathers. When it gets to dinner time they turn around & stare through the glass @ us until I go feed them.

I would love to see a picture of them facing into the wind, maybe even a video. Any chance?

Some fluffy butts for you Bob. :D

This is Tsuki and Deana looking for worms in the "grazing tyre" that I just took the cover off.
