I see the 2x4’s set on alternating sides of the steps on the step ladder. Unless it’s really narrow they can hop up on one to the left, say, then hop up right, then left, etc going up that way.I am thinking the 2x4 boards across the step ladder could solve the angle point because they could alternate sides in the steps so the chickens could hop from one up to the other.
I can see it in my head but can’t explain.
Basically the 2x4s become the perches - the steps of the step ladder just supports them.
They were examining the integrity of the ground where I placed the legs, and one was making sure it was all level! I agree about the steepness, though I’d try it plain just to find out! The boards would take care of that. But an additional thing about the ladder - I think you and @bgmathteach mentioned the slat effect, remember? It occurred to me that might be a great feature too, to be on a crossing 2x4 under the middle of the ladder!Based upon this, the sharp angle of the ladders will be NO problem. Glad your supervisors are keeping close watch.
