Do I qualify to be a rodenteer? My season total score so far is quite impressive!
Oh, yes, definitely! And I hate to say it, as I don’t like killing critters, I killed eight this year. I think that makes me one, too. Who came up with that awesome title again?

I know, I don't love that I am hoping to kill something and as soon as I no longer see them on the coop cam partying in the Chicken Palace at night then I will stop trapping.
So far I got only one rat and one mole and I have lost count of the mice. The mole made me sad.

I noticed that at the end of the video. It didn't look too disastrous and maybe it will make her slow down a bit while she recovers.
Do you think this could all be down to Aurora trying to challenge Hattie for the #2 slot?
Shad will likely say no, but I do believe that challenges can happen. I watched Sansa challenge Sydney and Sydney simply bowed down. Obviously it looks like Hattie is not going to back down to Aurora. Interestingly, when I went out, I hand fed Hattie a little corn. Sansa came over to eat out of my hand as well. Normally Hattie would simply look at Sansa and she would back down. Tonight, Hattie growled at her and Sansa did not immediately back off, she came back 3 times and Hattie growled longer and louder each time. Sansa did finally back away.

I wonder if Hattie appears vulnerable for some reason?

Maybe because of her recent molt?

Whew! I'd still be pretty jangled inside if I'd watched my hens in a battle like that. Hopefully you can calm down a bit now.
I sit here sincerely worried about how all of this is going to play out. At times I am fretting myself so much that Mrs BY Bob is asking me what is wrong as it is plain on my face. It is funny how much this turmoil in the flock is bothering me. I need to have faith that they will work it out. Your mind just goes to the worst possible outcome. :(

Don't go there Bob. They may just sort it out. Maybe when Aurora is done molting things will calm down.
One step at a time. Don't just to worst outcomes. :hugs :hugs

Mel got through four and a half ounces of mashed cod, shrimp and commercial feed today.
That's excellent for a hen of her size.
The mix is roughly 30% protein and less than 1% fat.
She didn't show any sign of wanting to leave until Tribe 1 came round for supper and even then it was a bit half hearted.
She's in with me again tonight.
If she'll stay one more day and night eating like this and resting, I'll feel a lot happier.
She looks a lot happier this evening. If she wasn't moulting I would have taken her home this evening.

Today. As you can see, the door is open and Cillin was here much of the afternoon.

Thank you for the updates, we are rooting for her! Question - How is she getting up and down from her indoor roosting box there? I can't really tell the angle of what looks like a ladder in front. Or are you carrying her somehow, maybe lifting her while she stands on your arm?
