I may not treat them like my cats or dogs but

This is exactly why i raise my own poultry. I am not either an indifferent consumer much less a cruel tormentor. I lovingly take care of my livestock to benefit the well being of Everyone involved. We Are going to consume chicken and eggs in my large household so better it be from a respectful hand with dignity than the mass producers machines with hardly a chance at life much less a real Chickens life.

Id love to move into self sufficient fruit, veggies, beef and pork. The way i was raised though, in the city without Ever seeing a chicken until God knows what age, each of these steps is a large learning curve.

Thank you so much for posting this. It touched my heart. These special animals deserve so much more from us humans. Hopefully we can change their lives for the better in our lifetimes.

I thought you might like that Bob. A couple a couple of kilometers down the track here have just taken in 6 rescue hens. I was down there yesterday with my Permethrin spray and Coccivex.

Trapped!

The girls are out but because of the snow in the side yard they cannot reach the big coop and are relegated to the area immediately surrounding their house. I wonder if the new girls will brave the snow at some point.

Lilly will not. She hates the stuff.

The first thing they all did when released was to eat some snow.

Interesting.
