Wing marks! Good point. Thoughts on what it could be then? Still looks chicken to me, but Bob seems sure it is not.
Could be another kind of bird? It is near the water so a wild duck or goose? I have loads of rabbits hopping around in the snow and that is for sure not a rabbit. The snow has melted now or I could send a picture of the bunnies.

Well my other first impression was a rabbit making a fast and short stop. The "tail marks" might be the feet coming forward. No other prints within 10 feet?
No other rabbit prints. If this is a hawk could this be a mix of its feathers and say a dove that it might of snagged. The only prints anywhere near this were little song bird footprints. 🐦

This sounds like a pretty good start to me. I suspect Queenie is quite a bit older. She seems to have a better idea of what's going on & how this will play out. That could be a really good thing as she seems to be such a calm placid girl.
I expect she will become the Hattie of this flock. A nice rock for the rest to revolve around.

I'm finally shaking a tail-feather regarding making my chicken scrapbook, which first entails printing out photos of all my girls. I realised that I have very few photos of Emily, but I do have some videos. I've created some stills from the videos, which are not the best as the camera on the iPad isn't the greatest, but it's something. So in advance of Friday, I would like to share with you Emily's fluffy butt. RIP Emily, sweetpea. :love

What a great idea! You have to post pictures of some of the pages when it's done. 🥰

Let's try to Remember

I'm posting this early for all my friends around the world.

Queenie and the Buckeyes (great new rock band) must eat and drink together.

I love that name!

Then if you are feeling adventurous, give her 60 minutes of mix it up time before roost time with direct supervision. Only intervene if she is trapped and being hurt. There will likely be confrontations and you must let them play out. Let's see how that works and then we can plan the next step.
This sounds like wonderful progress! I really can’t wait to see/hear what happens once they are allowed contact!

I am sure someone more experienced than me has already responded, but that sounds like a great start to me. Sorry about the face scratch and broken glasses. I got a scratched ear when Minnie was flying up to my shoulder and had to learn to turn around quickly so she scrambled up my back if she didn't quite make my shoulder. Mostly she landed on my head and stepped down! Hope you heal up fast, it is special to have them land on you and I would hate that you had to give that up. Minnie grew out of it and doesn't land on me any more. :(

Thank you for the encouragement, suggestions & tips! My DH/partner is suggesting full body armor, helmet and face shield for any further encounters.... 🏈

But this morning I was playing with Big Boy the cat, lifting a rug corner and zooming a furry tail toy on a stick in and out under there, and he was diving and reaching and grabbing and kicking, all four paws and claws of death in action. I knew how his body would move, and how to keep myself safe. So this will come with chickens. Hopefully. Gotta stay safe as I learn though! ;)

I too wonder about Queenie's take on this. She seems quite eager to get in there and "mix it up" and I actually have a little worry for the Buckeyes. These guys have known nothing else except their little 4-hen community plus me and my DH since they were day-olds. Queenie's been among 8 other B.O. hens plus a young rooster. I don't know if she and her sisters and the roo were thrown together as pullets and a lone cockerel, or grew up together as chicks. So maybe she's been around the block at least once before. Maybe she wants to be boss and kick everyone else's little fluffy butt! :idunno
