Maleficent checks out my jewelry

I was out in the run with the littles on Saturday and as always Mellie wanted to see what I am all about. This time I had my left hand hanging down and she came over as usual but this time she decided to check out my wedding ring. Listen closely and you can hear the hard pecks she gave it. I'm glad she didn't hit my finger that hard!

SURPRISE!, it's me, LILLY!!

You would think that after Saturday's chasing session that one of the Littles would always know where Lilly is but it is not so. I wish I had thought to grab my phone and film this encounter because I saw it coming this morning. I was sitting under the magnolia tree having coffee. Hattie was/is in the nest trying to lay her egg. Under the tree with me, Patsy and Lilly were preening and over by the run, Aurora and Mellie were doing the same. Lilly finished preening and started working the fence line, scratching and pecking her way along. This took her towards the Littles. So caught up in their preening were the Littles that Lilly walked right up to Aurora. I tried to warn the . "Watch out! Lilly is Coming", I said but no one listened. I think Lilly herself was shocked as she stood right next to her a second or two before gently pecking Aurora in the back as if to say "Hello". Startled, it took Aurora a second as well to realize who it was. Then all heck broke loose. Aurora started running and flapping, Maleficent was startled as she had no idea what was going on. They both started running and flapping until they found themselves on the other side of the yard! Through it all Lilly just stood there and then quietly went back to her scratching and pecking. It was quite a sight. I'm still laughing. Perhaps now the Littles will pay more attention.

I'm mad as a hornet!

After weeks of working with her, tonight was the big night. Maleficent and Aurora finally ate from my hand together. I was so excited. You would think that after roosting on me that there would be no fear of me but Aurora would not come within arms length. Well after a lot of patient work tonight Auroda decided I was alright and joined Maleficent in eating cracked corn from my palm. The trust earned is precious and rewarding.


So you might ask, "Mr. Bob, why so angry?" I had a feeling that this might be the moment and had staged my phone so I could easily take video of the event. Since the last upgrade on my phone it is hard to tell if the phone is actually recording or not. The event arrives, I pick up the phone, I start recording, and once they are full of corn I stop recording. Only the phone was never recording. What I wound up with is a 5 minute 4K video of blades of grass blowing in the breeze!!


I will take video next time but boy is this frustrating and there is never a second first time.

Don’t you just hate that! I can hardly get it right... I think I’m recording then press the button to stop only to find that’s when I STARTED the recording ... my teenage girl always has to help...

The worst part is I was not really having a problem until the phone software upgraded and they “improved” the camera. I did get video this morning that I will post later today but stil....
